Victory Over Dodos Takes Sunset District to 46-29
|
Sunset District rode a fine outing from starter Merlin Bassett to victory over the Hialeah Dodos at Fog Park. The final score was 5-1. In 8 innings, Bassett surrendered 6 hits, while striking out 4 and walking 0. He allowed no runs. Carlos Rodríguez finished to wrap up his 17th save.
Sunset District left fielder Héctor Velázquez helped the Fog go up, 1-0, in the bottom of the fourth inning. With the game tied, Velázquez hit a run-scoring single off Hialeah pitcher Gabriel Herrera.
"It was our day today," Velázquez told the Sunset District Chronicle. "But we've got to keep our nose to the grindstone."
Sunset District now sits in second place in the Menard's AAA at 46-29.
