Pagnotta Delivers Walk-Off Win for Dodos
|
The Sioux Falls Red Pandas got a sterling performance from pitcher Shuntavyious Primes-Willes, but the Dodos still prevailed, 4-3. Primes-Willes was named the player of the game in a losing cause. He threw 5 innings of shutout ball. The winner was Hialeah reliever Marcos Sarmiento, now 1-7. The loser was Francisco Valdés. The Red Pandas, at 31-34, have lost 8 in a row.
The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the 11th inning, when Hialeah shortstop Stan Pagnotta, facing Francisco Valdés, had a run-scoring single. It gave the Dodos the 4-3 win.
"I don't feel you win baseball games by working harder than the other team or 'wanting it more,'" Pagnotta told the Hialeah Chronicle. "You win just by scoring more runs."
