Red Pandas Turn Back Salt Lake City, 5-3
|
The Sioux Falls Red Pandas picked up a win at The Bamboo Forest, knocking off the Salt Lake City Buzz, 5-3. Starting pitcher Mick Alston, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason why. Aurelio Ornelas picked up the save, his 1st. The Buzz, at 6-14, have stumbled out of the gate.
In the bottom of the 6th, shortstop Alejandro Herrera gave Sioux Falls the lead when he hit a 2-run double. The Red Pandas had been trailing 3-2, but the two-out double off Salt Lake City pitcher Juan Rúbio changed that -- and Sioux Falls went on to win.
"I like our moxie," said Red Pandas manager Todd England.
