Coral Reefers Fall to Buzz, 4-2
|
The Key West Coral Reefers got a superb performance from designated hitter Juan Carlos Santos. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Salt Lake City. The Buzz won the game, 4-2. In spite of the loss, Santos was named the player of the game. He went 4-5 with 3 doubles, while adding 2 RBI. Salt Lake City reliever Juan Rúbio was the winner. His record is now 1-2. The losing pitcher was Todd Serrano. Gunner Hines, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 1st save.
Tied up with the Coral Reefers in the bottom of the fourth inning, the Buzz got a boost from shortstop Jung-hwan Kwon. With a runner on 1st, Kwon saw a 1-0 changeup from Todd Serrano and hit a 2-run home run to break the stalemate and put Salt Lake City on top, 4-2.
"I thought we played a nice game," Kwon told the Salt Lake City Daily. "Good pitching, timely hitting, it was all there."
Salt Lake City, now 6-11, is off to a slow start.
