Big Day by Esveld Sparks Buzz Win
|
Behind the bravura of catcher Olaf Esveld, the Salt Lake City Buzz topped the Phoenix Hotspur Reserves by the score of 13-6. Esveld was 4-4 with a home run, a double, 2 singles, and a walk. He scored 4 times and drove in 4 for the Buzz. Jorge Mejía recorded the save for Salt Lake City, his 1st of the season. The Buzz, with just their 3rd win so far in 2035, have yet to catch fire.
Yoichibei Chikafuji went 1 for 3 with a walk. He scored 2 times for Salt Lake City. In the top of the sixth, with the teams deadlocked, 4-4, Chikafuji delivered for the Buzz. His run-scoring sacrifice fly put Salt Lake City on top, 5-4.
"Enjoyed this one," Chikafuji told the Salt Lake City Daily. "But it's back to work tomorrow."
