BC Nip Flamingos, 3-2
|
The Philadelphia 1776 BC eked out a 3-2 win versus the Las Vegas Flamingos at Ben Franklin Memorial Coliseum. Nobody did more than pitcher José Cotilla, who captured player of the game honors. Cotilla went 7.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 4 hits, walked 1, and struck out 5. His record improves to 3-1. The BC saw their win-loss record go to 13-11. At the same time, the Flamingos fell to 11-13.
Karl Blanke drove in one run for Philadelphia 1776. The 27-year old first baseman had a key at-bat in the bottom of the fifth. With one out and runners on 1st and 3rd, he broke a 1-1 tie with a run-scoring ground out off Luis Peña. It was his 16th RBI of the season.
Blanke told a Philadelphia 1776 News reporter that he was "satisfied" with the win.
