Flamingos Use Late-Game Magic to Beat BC
|
The Las Vegas Flamingos bested the Philadelphia 1776 BC by a score of 5-4, with second baseman Xavier Hernández getting the main credit. On the day, Hernández was 3-4 with a home run and a double, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once for the Flamingos. Gilberto Medina, credited with the win, is now 1-0. He allowed no runs on 2 hits in 2 innings. Picking up the save was Vaugh Chesser, his 1st.
Had Ellis Greenham not delivered a key base hit in the top of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 1st, Greenham hit a 2-run home run. That made the score 5-3, in favor of the Flamingos.
"I was a little disappointed," said Philadelphia 1776 manager Josh Swain. "We could've and should've scored more runs."
Las Vegas is now 11-12, while Philadelphia 1776 is 12-11.
