Deer Stop Hernández at 26
Thursday, August 31st, 2034
Ballard shortstop Tony Hernández came into today's game against the Sheridan Deer on a hot streak. He left on a cold one.

The Deer did their jobs well, beating the Ballard Beavers 5-4 and holding Hernández hitless to snap his 26-game hitting streak. The 19-year-old shortstop had a few words to say after finishing 0-for-1, telling reporters only that he "came up short."

"What Tony did was exciting and quite an achievement," said Beavers manager Terry Stokes. "It's tough enough to get one hit in this league, much less go 26 games in a row. I'm even more proud of the way he handled the press coverage. He never let the frenzy get to him or affect his play."

In 69 games Hernández is hitting .348 this season with 103 hits, 5 home runs, 39 RBIs, 10 walks, .375 OBP and has scored 42 runs.
