Mermen Pruitt Gone for Year
Wednesday, June 7th, 2034
The season is finished for Geoff Pruitt of the Newcastle Mermen. The club announced today that he will forego the rest of the year because of injury. The Mermen starting pitcher suffered a torn rotator cuff while throwing a pitch in a recent game against the Union City Hillers. Team doctors said it would take at least 5-6 months to heal.

So far this year Pruitt has made 6 starts, tossed 39.2 innings, struck out 37 batters and walked 16. His record is 1-3 with a 5.67 ERA and he has limited opposing teams to a .287 batting average.
