Union City Snaps Leobardo's Streak at 21
Sunday, July 30th, 2034
For 21 straight games, Ánibal Leobardo tried to ignore his hitting streak. It wasn't easy.

Well, the 20-year-old Franklin Fire center fielder can forget about it now -- it's over, courtesy of the Union City Hillers. The Hillers held him hitless in 6 at-bats at Crusaders Ballpark today and snapped his consecutive-game hitting string at 21.

There was at least one good note to the end of the streak, however, as the Fire took the win by the score of 9-6.

"I tried to ignore it for weeks, but you guys in the media wouldn't let me," he joked with reporters after the game. "I'm looking forward to some peace and quiet now."

This year Leobardo has collected a .357 batting average to date with 56 hits in 157 at-bats, 27 RBIs, 8 home runs and scored 30 times. He has played in 39 games.
