Newcastle No Match for Shumkichi Friday, July 14th, 2034 Ladue Rams fans were pleased to see so many goose eggs up on the scoreboard as Kagiyama Shumkichi blanked the Newcastle Mermen, 9-0 at Newcastle Stadium today. Shumkichi stopped them on 5 hits while walking 2 and striking out 7. "Once he gets in a groove, he can be dynamite," Rams skipper Henry Henderson said. "He was on top of his game in this one." So far this year Shumkichi has made 13 starts, tossed 96.2 innings, struck out 100 batters and walked 20.
