Star of the Week Named in SAA Monday, August 14th, 2034 22-year-old Francisco Vargas made a few Athletic Club KC Academy headlines during this past week as the rookie first baseman proved he could compete at the plate with his high-school idols. He captured the attention of fans, journalists and USSL Double A officials last week and today took home Player of the Week honors for his effort. He cracked 11 hits in 24 at-bats to put up a .458 average. Vargas collected 4 home runs, 12 RBIs and scored 6 runs. This season Vargas is batting .313 with 13 home runs. He has scored 24 runs and driven in 34. |
