Vargas Wins SAA Player of the Week Prize Monday, July 17th, 2034 22-year-old Francisco Vargas made a few Athletic Club KC Academy headlines during this past week as the rookie first baseman proved he could compete at the plate with his high-school idols. He captured the attention of fans, journalists and USSL Double A officials last week and today took home Player of the Week honors for his effort. He cracked 10 hits in 25 at-bats to put up a .400 average. Vargas collected 3 home runs, 8 RBIs and scored 3 runs. For the season, Vargas is hitting at a .309 clip with 5 home runs, 11 RBIs and has scored 10 runs. He has 25 hits, 6 walks and a .360 on-base percentage. |
