Westwood Snaps Otani's Streak at 20
Thursday, July 13th, 2034
For 20 straight games, Shohei Otani tried to ignore his hitting streak. It wasn't easy.

Well, the 23-year-old Ft. Polk South Thunder Hawks first baseman can forget about it now -- it's over, courtesy of the Westwood Sixshooters. The Sixshooters held him hitless in 1 at-bat at Thunder Hawks Ballpark today and snapped his consecutive-game hitting string at 20.

There was at least one good note to the end of the streak, however, as the Thunder Hawks took the win by the score of 12-6.

"I tried to ignore it for weeks, but you guys in the media wouldn't let me," he joked with reporters after the game. "I'm looking forward to some peace and quiet now."

In 42 games Otani is hitting .367 this season with 54 hits, 9 home runs, 31 RBIs, 23 walks, .453 OBP and has scored 29 runs.
