Bloomington Snaps Laurel's Streak at 23
Saturday, September 16th, 2034
For 23 straight games, Arsenio Laurel tried to ignore his hitting streak. It wasn't easy.

Well, the 27-year-old Santa Barbara Golden Cranes center fielder can forget about it now -- it's over, courtesy of the Bloomington Longnecks. The Longnecks held him hitless in 4 at-bats at Crane Field today and snapped his consecutive-game hitting string at 23.

There was at least one good note to the end of the streak, however, as the Golden Cranes took the win by the score of 4-2.

"I tried to ignore it for weeks, but you guys in the media wouldn't let me," he joked with reporters after the game. "I'm looking forward to some peace and quiet now."

Laurel is hitting .306 this year with 5 home runs and 30 RBIs. He also has an OBP of .363, 16 walks and scored 28 times.
