Hotspur U-21, Jones Blank U-24 Tuesday, July 25th, 2034 Fans at Hotspur Kiddie Complex witnessed the Phoenix Hotspur U-21 blank the Athletic Club KC U-24, 2-0 behind a superb effort by starter Derek Jones. The Phoenix right-hander allowed 3 hits in recording the shutout. "Derek was good today but I don't want to focus too much on a single game," Phoenix manager Howard Martínez said later. "If you're capable of playing at this level, you're capable of having a good game. The real question is if you can learn from that game and repeat it." So far this year Jones has made 13 starts, tossed 95.1 innings, struck out 82 batters and walked 30. His record is 3-6 with a 4.44 ERA and he has limited opposing teams to a .271 batting average.
