Álvarez Hits in 20 Straight Games Saturday, September 23rd, 2034 The Chicago Gold Sox may have proven to be mere mortals today as they lost 7-3 to the Philadelphia 1776 BC, but Mario Álvarez continued to hit like a god. The second baseman collected 2 hits in 5 at-bats in the loss and extended his hitting streak to 20 games. "Álvarez is playing great and is on fire right now," Gold Sox manager Greg Diersing said. "Hopefully his play can spark the rest of our team and help us pick up some wins." Álvarez was apparently not happy with the game and when pressed by reporters in the locker room only said "nothing else matters but the loss." Mario Álvarez grounded out in the 1st, hit an RBI single in the 3rd, hit an RBI double in the 5th, flied out in the 7th and grounded out in the 9th. Álvarez is hitting .283 this year with 1 home run and 36 RBIs. He also has an OBP of .318, 22 walks and scored 46 times. |
