Almost There: Portland On Cusp of R2035 Triumph After 5-4 Win
|
The Portland Evergreens moved to within one game of the Round 2036 today, downing the Charleston Battery on the road at Charleston Armory by a score of 5-4. Evergreens right-hander Jorge Otero was named player of the game after a strong outing in which he threw 5 innings allowing 2 runs. The win gives the Evergreens a - advantage in the best-of- Round 2035.
John Schaefer had a clutch at-bat with one out in the top of the eighth for the Evergreens. Coming up with runners on 2nd and 3rd and Portland trailing 4-3, he hit a 2-run single.
"We're one game closer to our goal," Portland manager Imran Baig said later. "It isn't any more complicated than that."
Game 5 is scheduled for Wednesday, October 4th, 2034 at Evergreen Park in Portland. The scheduled starters for the game are Scott Morrison for Charleston and Giovanni Mireles for Portland.
