Timber Hawks Even With Humpbacks After Walk-Off Win
|
The Augusta Timber Hawks got a strong game from starter Gus Osborne, but it was some clutch hitting that ultimately delivered the win.
The Timber Hawks took the 4-3 win over the Alaskan Humpbacks in Game 2 of the 3L AAA Championship in a 9th inning walk-off today. The win capped off a fine outing for the right-handed Osborne, who was named player of the game. Osborne threw 7 innings of 5-hit ball in the win, which brought the Timber Hawks into a 1-1 tie in the best-of-5 series.
The Timber Hawks were down to their last out in the bottom of the ninth when first baseman Randy Sallah turned a 2-1 fastball from Jorge Garza into a 2-run home run. The walk-off home run sent a roar through the crowd and gave Augusta a thrilling 4-3 win.
"We did enough to win," said Sallah.
Game 3 is set to be played Monday, September 25th, 2034 at Sea World in Eugene. Slated to start are Won-u Yi for the Augusta Timber Hawks and Liam Thomson for the the Alaskan Humpbacks.
