Muńóz, Submarinos Wallop Elephants in Game 1 of R1
|
When the games really matter, the Amarillo Submarinos put on their best show, beating the Gibtown Elephants by a final score of 5-2 today. António Muńóz earned player of the game honors, as he was 2 for 5 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3. Amarillo now leads Gibtown 1-0 in the best-of-5 affair.
The game was all tied up in the top of the 11th, until Muńóz delivered big-time for Amarillo, stroking a dramatic 3-run home run off Jonathan Lentz. The game-changing hit put the Submarinos on top, 5-2.
"We've got a great group of guys," Muńóz said, "and we're having fun right now."
The next game is set to be played tomorrow. Slated to start are Sean Halls for the Amarillo Submarinos and Patrick Nicolas for the the Gibtown Elephants.
