Road Win Lifts Ogallala to 2-1 Lead in R1
The Ogallala Octopi moved to within one game of the Round 2 today, downing the San Diego Clippers on the road at Mean Green Ballpark by a score of 12-2. Octopi second baseman Phil van Oosterom was named player of the game after he was 3-4 with a triple, a double, and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3. The win gives the Octopi a 2-1 advantage in the best-of-5 PL R Championchip.

Carlos Martínez chipped in for Ogallala with a 2-run home run in the top of the first. For the game, the shortstop had 2 hits in 5 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 2 runs scored, and 3 runs batted in.

"I like our mindset right now," said Ogallala manager Bernie Drake.

The next game is scheduled for tomorrow in San Diego. Slated to start are Fred Ramey for the Ogallala Octopi and Justin Clapham for the the San Diego Clippers.
