Game was big. So was Gerald Keller.
The Portland starter rose to the occasion at Cloverdale Legion Park today, earning player of the game honors after leading the Evergreens to a crucial 6-1 victory over the Kingston Township Knights. Keller threw 6 innings of 3-hit ball as the Evergreens won on the road to seize a - lead in the best-of- Round 1.
Nelson Jaramillo, who is rated as the 4th best prospect by BNN, helped out the Portland cause in the top of the third inning with a solo home run. For the game, the second baseman was 3 for 5 with a home run and a triple. He scored 2 runs.
"Whenever we hold the other team to one run," said Evergreens manager Imran Baig, "I like our chances."
