Almost There: Boston On Cusp of R1 Triumph After 1-0 Win
|
The Boston Patriots took the first game of the Round 1 in dramatic fashion today, topping the Brooklyn Dodgers with a ninth-inning walk-off 1-0 victory. Dodgers pitcher Pablo De La Torre put up a productive, if futile, game and was selected player of the game after he threw 7 innings of shutout ball.
Manuel Carmona was the walk-off hero for Boston. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Patriots left fielder hit a dramatic solo home run to send the teams home.
"I like our moxie," said Patriots manager Tyler Carter.
