Submarinos Win Streak Now at 7
|
The Amarillo Submarinos met little resistance from the Santa Fe Revolvers, beating them 11-3 at Terriers Ballpark. Hélio Capriati led the way. He went 2-4 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3 for Amarillo. Héctor Barrera earned the win for Amarillo. He lasted 5.1 innings, allowing 2 earned runs on 9 hits, while striking out 5. With the win, he raised his record to 6-1. Gijsbert Oostenbroek was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 3 of 4 save opportunities.
A key at-bat in the game came in the bottom of the sixth inning when the Submarinos sent teenager Riley Rowbery to the plate against Revolvers hurler Arturo Santiago. With the bases loaded and a whole stadium watching, the kid controlled his nerves and delivered huge, hitting a double off a 1-0 sinker to score 3.
"You can't get too high when things go well, or too low when things go bad. Right now, I'm just happy we got the win," Rowbery told the Amarillo Citizen.
The losing streak for Santa Fe has now reached 4 games.
