Shockers Raise Rally Flag, Beat Capital Hill, 8-5
|
Fans at Alouettes Ballpark were not deterred by the threat of rain. They came to see their hometown Capital Hill Interns take on the Surprise Shockers.
The Surprise Shockers overcame a good performance by Capital Hill right fielder Mark Boyle to knock off Capital Hill, 8-5, at Alouettes Ballpark. Boyle went 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. With the win, Surprise goes to 55-37, while the Interns fall to 49-43.
A key at-bat in the game came in the top of the eighth inning when the Shockers sent teenager Benjamin Blunsdon to the plate against Interns hurler Miguel Romero. With the bases loaded and a whole stadium watching, the kid controlled his nerves and delivered huge, hitting a single off a first pitch fastball to score 2.
"I play this game for myself and my family, but of course it's always nice when we can win," said Blunsdon.
