The Valley View Cougars topped the Ellesmere Island Snowpeople, 8-3, with youngster Gene Payne playing a key role. Payne was 2 for 5 with a home run and a triple. He scored 2 times and drove in 4 for the Cougars in the win. Valley View starter Malcolm Bullard was credited with the win after throwing 125 pitches over 7.2 innings. His record now stands at 5-4.
