Cougars Hang 9-5 Loss on Music
|
The Valley View Cougars topped the Memphis Music, 9-5, in USPL Rookie action at Mammoths Ballpark. The player of the game was Valley View shortstop Luis Rodríguez. Alberto Cruz was the winner. Over 6.1 innings, he allowed 5 runs on 8 hits, with 2 walks and 3 strikeouts. Valley View has now won 3 in a row.
Rodríguez contributed a big hit, a grand slam home run, for Valley View in the top of the third. With his team trailing 3-2, Rodríguez took a fastball from Brant Mielke and stroked the home run to right. His 8th home run of the season allowed the Cougars to leap in front, 6-3.
"The boys came out and just played their butts off," said Valley View manager Reggie Adams.
