Octopi Clip Interns in Tight Contest
|
Capital Hill first baseman Tom Washington pounded Ogallala Octopi pitchers at Alouettes Ballpark, but it was not enough to keep the Interns from falling, 8-6. Washington went 3-4 with 2 home runs, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice. Ogallala reliever Chi-young Zamora was credited with the win, to go to 7-0. Steve Jackson took the loss for Capital Hill. Ye-qing Tsai got the save, the 4th for him this season.
Derek Corbin's hit in the top of the ninth was a game-changer. With one out, he rapped a changeup from Steve Jackson for a 2-run single. It put Ogallala in front, 5-4.
"It wasn't our best performance," said Corbin, "but a win in this league is nothing to sniff at."
Ogallala, at 43-27, occupies second place in the Premier R.
