Warheads Dump Baby Lakers, 16-4
|
The Amarillo Warheads overcame a good performance by Bompton second baseman Jiao-long Xú to knock off Bompton, 16-4, at Field of the Browns. Xú was 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 singles, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Charlie Bottari, the winner, improved to 4-3. He held the Baby Lakers to 1 earned run on 5 hits over 5 innings, while striking out 4 and walking 1. Ed Barrick earned the save, his 1st, for the Warheads.
It could have been a different outcome for Amarillo, had it not been for Joe Walker, the 20-year old center fielder . Walker contributed a 2-run single in the top of the eighth inning to put Amarillo up, 7-4.
"One win at a time, one game at a time. We try not to get too far ahead of ourselves," Walker told the Amarillo Times.
With the win, Amarillo goes to 30-29, while the Baby Lakers fall to 38-21.
