The Amarillo Submarinos topped the Amarillo Warheads, 2-1, in M3L Rookie action at Ballpark of Henderson. The player of the game was Amarillo pitcher and Oranjestad, Aruba native Sean Halls. Halls got the win, improving to 4-1. He allowed 6 hits and walked 2 over 5.1 innings. Halls allowed 1 earned run. Getting the save was António Moreno, his 13th.
The Submarinos used some clutch hitting to beat the Warheads, a good example being the at-bat of Enrique De La Rosa in the top of the fourth. With two down, De La Rosa gave his team the lead, 2-1, when he hit a run-scoring single.
Afterward, Submarinos manager Theodore Johnston was ebullient. "That was a fun game to coach," he told a group of reporters, adding, "I hope it was just as fun to watch."
Amarillo's current losing streak is now 4 games.
