Nelson Goes Wild, But Deer Win
|
Micah Nelson had a good game, but he could not keep the Amarillo Submarinos from falling, 14-11, to the Sheridan Deer at Wranglers Ballpark. The Amarillo first baseman hit 2 home runs. He scored 3 times and drove in 4 in the loss. Salvador Rangel picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 3-2. John Thomas was tagged with the loss. Phil Soto sewed up the save, his 13th.
Arnie Ford had a key at-bat with one out in the bottom of the second for Sheridan. With the bases loaded and the Deer trailing 5-0, he drew a walk, driving in 1 run.
"The boys were really swinging the bats today," winning manager Tommy Wade said.
The Deer move to 24-18 with the win, while the Submarinos drop to 24-18.
