Parker Leads Elephants to Win over Harbor Whales
|
The Gibtown Elephants bested the Greenport Harbor Whales, 5-3, at Wrigley Field. Don Parker was named player of the game. He went 4-4 with a home run, a triple, and 2 singles. He scored 2 times and drove in 2. Said Akimi was the winning pitcher. Over 9 innings, he allowed 3 runs on 4 hits, with 2 walks and 9 strikeouts. Gibtown is now 20-15.
Gibtown grabbed control in the bottom of the sixth. With two out and a runner on 3rd, Francis Raffone delivered a run-scoring single, to make it 4-3 in favor of the Elephants.
Parker told the Gibtown Gazette: "I was born for the big stage."
