|
The Germantown Uruguayans got a superb performance from pitcher Okura Yamasaki, but the Phoenix Hotspur Academy still won the game, 3-2. Yamasaki was named the player of the game despite the loss. He threw 8 innings of 3-hit ball. With the win, Phoenix has a record of 36-24. Germantown falls to 31-29.
The most critical at-bat came in the top of the 13th inning. With one out, Nathan Pruitt hit a 1-1 slider from Dong-hua Hao for a run-scoring single. It put Phoenix in front, 3-2.
"It was just a matter of executing," said Phoenix manager Mike Evans.
