Keiki Delivers Walk-Off Win for U-21
|
Despite a fine performance by right fielder Lai-hsiang Loh, the Newcastle Mermen suffered a 5-4 loss to the Athletic Club KC U-21. Loh went 3 for 5 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2. Athletic Club KC reliever Romuald Georges got the win, raising his record to 2-0. Stephen Sparks was tagged with the loss. The U-21 now have a record of 16-35 with the win over Newcastle.
The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the 11th inning, when Athletic Club KC shortstop Kalikiano Keiki, facing Stephen Sparks, had a run-scoring sacrifice fly. It gave the U-21 the 5-4 win.
"This place was rocking at the end," Keiki said.
