Pizza Rats Need Extra Frames to Get Past Fire
The Staten Island Pizza Rats and Franklin Fire put on quite a show at Lawmen Ballpark.

The Staten Island Pizza Rats bested the Franklin Fire by a score of 8-6, with first baseman Ismael Soto getting the main credit. On the day, Soto was 3-6 with a home run and a triple. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3 for the Pizza Rats. Staten Island reliever Julius Spry picked up the win, upping his record to 2-0. Lex Janssen absorbed the loss.

Soto had a game-changing triple in the top of the 12th. On a 2-1 fastball from Lex Janssen, he banged a run-scoring triple to right-center, giving the Pizza Rats a 7-6 lead. It was the 1st triple of the year for Soto.

"The name of the game is scoring runs," Soto said. "We did a good job of that today."

Staten Island, at 18-31, occupies 8th place in the Silver R.
