Fire Prevail, 3-2, Over Moose Jaw

The Moose Jaw Canucks got a superb performance from pitcher Billy Threepwood. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Franklin. The Fire won the game, 3-2. In spite of the loss, Threepwood was named the player of the game. He threw 7 innings of 5-hit ball. Jesús Cruz was the winner. Over 6.1 innings, he allowed 2 runs on 5 hits, with 3 walks and 6 strikeouts. The Fire, now 3-0, have stormed out of the gates.
In the bottom of the 6th, catcher Tareef Ashraf gave Franklin the lead when he hit a 2-run home run. The Fire had been trailing 2-1, but the two-out home run off Moose Jaw pitcher Billy Threepwood changed that -- and Franklin went on to win.
"We'll grab a cold one tonight and go after another win tomorrow," Ashraf said.
