Centennial Lose Again, 5-1, to Clippers

The San Diego Clippers picked up a win at Ballpark of Baxter, knocking off the Fort Knox Centennial, 5-1. Starting pitcher Jeff McDermott, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason why. The slumping Centennial have dropped 6 in a row.
The Clippers got a big at-bat from third baseman Cleveland Mortimer. For the game, Mortimer was 2 for 5 with 2 singles. In the top of the fifth, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 78th hit of the season gave San Diego a 2-1 lead.
"It was a solid team effort and we'll try to keep this momentum going," Mortimer told reporters after the game.
