Surprise starter Alan Halsall put a stranglehold on the Memphis offense. The left-hander had complete command of his fastball in leading the Shockers to a 2-1 win. José Castro notched his 14th save in 17 chances. Surprise has now won 4 games in a row.

Lao Tian had a clutch at-bat with one out in the top of the eighth for the Shockers. Coming up with runners on 2nd and 3rd and Surprise trailing 1-0, he hit a 2-run double.

"I really like what we did out there today," Tian said after the game.
