Shockers Defeat Octopi, 4-1
|
Surprise starter Walt Hart put a stranglehold on the Ogallala offense. The left-hander had complete command of his forkball in leading the Shockers to a 4-1 win. Getting the save was José Castro, his 13th. Surprise is now 33-22. Ogallala is 31-24.
Tied up with the Octopi in the top of the fifth inning, the Shockers got a boost from first baseman Eric Martínez. With a runner on 1st, Martínez saw a 2-2 changeup from Fred Ramey and hit a run-scoring triple to break the stalemate and put Surprise on top, 1-0.
Martínez told the Surprise Daily: "I don't know which I enjoy more -- being a ballplayer or the perks that come with being a ballplayer."
