Sun Sox Nip Otters, 2-1
|
The Winter Haven Sun Sox got a strong performance from pitcher Markus Martin, who stymied the Tulsa offense en route to a 2-1 win at Ballpark of Hughesville. Phil Burns earned the save for Winter Haven, his 5th of the year. The last-place Otters have lost 4 straight games.
Donald Lund drove in one run for Winter Haven. The 21-year old first baseman had a key at-bat in the top of the fourth. With one out and a runner on 3rd, he broke a 1-1 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Riccardo Muijlwijk. It was his 20th RBI of the season.
In postgame comments to the Winter Haven Citizen, Martin said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
