Cougars Cut Down Music, 7-5
|
The Memphis Music got a superb performance from right fielder Luther Greene, but the Valley View Cougars still won the game, 7-5. Greene was named the player of the game despite the loss. He was 3 for 4 with a double, 2 singles, and a walk. He scored 2 times. Gaberiela Tatafu, who went 6 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with 4 runs on 10 hits, while walking 3 and striking out 5. His record now stands at 3-6. Einar Engberg closed the door for Valley View, picking up his 6th save of the year.
The Cougars used some clutch hitting to beat the Music, a good example being the at-bat of Guan-pei Bei in the bottom of the fourth. With two down, Bei gave his team the lead, 5-3, when he hit a 2-run single.
"We were able to get some things going offensively," said Bei.
Valley View is now 19-28.
