San Diego starter Jeff McDermott put a stranglehold on the Winter Haven offense. The left-hander had complete command of his change up in leading the Clippers to a 2-0 win. With the win, the Clippers improved to 15-14.

Chet Clifton drew 1 walk for San Diego. The 21-year old shortstop had a key at-bat in the top of the fourth. With one out and runners on 1st and 3rd, he broke a 0-0 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Alfonso Gonzáles. It was his 8th RBI of the season.

"We did just enough to win," Clifton said.
