The Valley View Cougars beat the Fort Knox Centennial, 8-5, at Hillandale Grounds. Salvador Hernández was recognized as player of the game for his performance. He was 4-4 with a double and 3 singles, while adding 3 RBI. The 21-year old center fielder was a menace to Fort Knox all day. Malcolm Bullard got the win, improving to 3-0. He worked 7.1 innings, giving up 5 runs on 8 hits, while striking out 8 and walking 5. Ronald Hall closed the door for Valley View, picking up his 1st save of the year.
Hernández had an important at-bat with the bases loaded in the bottom of the seventh, when he hit a bases-clearing double. The Cougars went on to win.
"The boys were really swinging the bats today," winning manager Reggie Adams said.
Valley View, at 13-15, occupies 7th place in the Premier R.
