The rain made it unbearable at times; nonetheless, the faithful who endured the elements at Mammoths Ballpark enjoyed themselves.

Ogallala had no answer for Memphis Music hurler Brant Mielke, who overwhelmed Octopi hitters as the Music coasted to a 8-1 victory. Memphis reliever Vicente Mota picked up the win to move to 1-0. Venceslau Martelo suffered the loss.

The game was on the line with two out in the top of the seventh inning, but Vicente Mota didn't flinch. With the bases loaded and Ogallala trailing 2-0, Mota retired Lauren Hilfiker to end the threat. "Nothing to it," said Mota, with a wink.

Memphis is now 8-16, while Ogallala is 14-10.
