The Valley View Cougars got a stellar performance from pitcher Malcolm Bullard, who handcuffed the Ogallala offense en route to a 3-1 win at Hillandale Grounds. Bullard got the win, improving to 1-0. He allowed 6 hits and walked 4 over 7.2 innings. Bullard allowed no earned runs. Einar Engberg finished to wrap up his 4th save.
Had Marc Cadiou not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases loaded, Cadiou hit a 2-run single. That made the score 3-1, in favor of the Cougars.
"We can always improve and get better, but we're feeling confident after that win," said Cadiou.
With the win, Valley View elevates its record to 9-9.
