San Diego got a terrific performance from pitcher Justin Clapham, but it wasn't enough to beat the Winter Haven Sun Sox. Winter Haven won the Mean Green Ballpark contest, 1-0. Clapham was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He threw 8 innings of shutout ball. The win lifts Winter Haven to a record of 8-5.

The game was at a stalemate until second baseman Vincent Griffin came to bat in the top of the tenth. Facing San Diego pitcher César Sandoval, he hit a 1-2 fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Winter Haven on top, 1-0.

"We played a good game and came out on top," said Griffin.
