Hot Start Continues for Octopi
The Ogallala Octopi beat the Surprise Shockers, 9-4, at ďAbbots Ballpark. The Octopi got a fine performance from shortstop Phil van Oosterom, who captured player of the game honors. He went 2-6 with a home run, while scoring 2 times and driving in 4. Jasper Jordan closed it out for his 2nd save. The Octopi, now 7-2, have been playing some good baseball.

Carlos Martínez's at-bat in the top of the fourth inning was a big one for Ogallala. Coming to bat with two out, the bases loaded and Ogallala leading 3-1, the designated hitter drew a walk, driving in 1 run.

"If we play well, we'll win our share of games," said Martínez. "The only team that can beat us is us."
