Cougars Beat Clippers, 5-2

The exploits of first baseman Tim Gonzáles helped the Valley View Cougars defeat the San Diego Clippers, 5-2. Gonzáles went 3-5 with a double and 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI. Losses have been few and far between for the Clippers, who are now 4-1.
It could have been a different outcome for Valley View, had it not been for Gene Payne, the 19-year old center fielder . Payne contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the sixth inning to put Valley View up, 3-2.
"We'll enjoy this win," said Payne. "But there's more we hope to accomplish."
