Generals Lose, 4-1, at Galesburg Field
|
Galesburg rode a fine outing from starter Andy Tidwell to victory over the Washington Generals at Galesburg Field. The final score was 4-1. Tidwell, now 6-10, was the winner. In 5.1 innings, he gave up 4 hits, while striking out 2, walking 3, and allowing no earned runs. Galesburg is now riding a 3-game win streak.
The Guzzlers beat the Generals in part due to timely hitting. Case in point: the two-out triple Evan Meertens produced in the bottom of the second. Batting against Washington pitcher Esteban Martínez, Meertens gave his team a 3-1 lead when he hit a 2-run triple.
"Good pitching stops good hitting," said Meertens. "And vice-versa."
