Galesburg withstood an impressive performance by Valley center fielder Dale Epner to defeat the Blue Sox, 4-3, at Galesburg Field. Epner was 2-4 with a home run. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Aletona Kylie picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 4-0. Tom Hegedus was tagged with the loss. Galesburg now sits at 33-49, while Valley falls to 42-40.

Had Louie Vipont not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 3rd, Vipont hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 4-3, in favor of the Guzzlers.

"Baseball is about momentum," said Vipont, "and we feel we've got it in our favor after that win."
